Beetle Buster™ the small hive beetle trap was invented in my backyard workshop in Beerwah, Queensland by me Bruce Wallace. Hearing about the small hive beetle destroying fellow beekeepers hives and the disastrous effects it was having on their hives, I set out to take control of the small hive beetle infestation.

I could gush on and on about all elements of your product. Thanks for helping create an organic One-Two-Three punch that just might save the bees and thus, hungry humanity. I ordered a couple of Beetle Busters the week they became commercially available in the US. I was also asked to try one of the Cool Aussie Tops. As soon as they arrived we put both on Hive #1. Within 3 hours several hive beetles were writhing in the diatomaceous earth in the trap. After a week we had caught several dozen. We continue to see the occasional hive beetle inside the hive at the top of the upper honey super but I am confident that we have reduced the number significantly just in the first month of use. We now have Beetle Busters and C.A.T.s installed on both of our hives. The combination is effective at limiting the access the beetles have to entering the hive. The most miraculous part though is watching the bees haul out the infested brood.. Amazing to watch. Both our hives are stronger in number and working much harder than during the spring honey flow before we implemented the new equipment and regimen. I can only attribute this to the use of the combination of the invention. I feel optimistic and confident about the survival of our bees this winter and that our urban apiary will be home to healthier, thriving organically managed honey bee colonies. I know that next year’s honeyproduction will far surpass this year’s. Just to let you know, I bought a Beetle Buster Bottom Board. Ordered on a Monday and it was here by Wednesday. A beautiful piece of equipment. G’day all I’ve had a Beetle Buster Base Board on my 8 frame hive since the start of December. It is very impressive the way all the beetles fall prey to the board. I’ve had a disposable beetle trap inside the hive the whole time and there are no beetles in it. As an added bonus the Beetle Buster keeps the hive very hygienic and the bees use it to dump waste through the holes instead of on the ground out front, eliminating the attraction of pests to the front of the hive. I recommend a Beetle Buster Base Board on every hive so we stop the beetles in their tracks. It is a top item.

“As a new beek I saw my first SHB while gathering my 1st hive split from a friend.The sighting had me worried from the start and to be frank the worry never left me until I purchased my beetle buster base board. I had tried a variety of methods to attempt to keep the beetle down. Reduced gates that were too restrictive. Messy oil traps. And expensive internal baited traps.. Now I have the BB baseboard I can almost set and forget. With just the odd check of the catcher tray.
Where I live is very tropical with a lot of vegetation around. I could watch the SHB fly to my hive of evenings and enter. I had to be too vigilant and it was starting to take a little of the enjoyment away from beekeeping for me.
I installed the BB Board and straight away results! beetle after beetle DEAD !. The numbers dwindled over a short time and now I only see the occasional beetle in the catch tray dead. I would also find the odd Wax moth larvae the bees had chased through and into the bottom board BONUS.
This product ticks all the boxes for me, Australian smart invention. Perfect customer service from Bruce. Price was very reasonable given the quality workmanship of the boards. And a product that does the job hands down.

“Yesterday was my bee inspection day. I had anticipated a honey run with local eucalypts flowering. My 6 hives have Beetle Buster baseboards in place, I don’t worry anymore about beetle. I check my boards weekly, always finding various numbers of demised beetle or in the throws of. I go away on holidays knowing the boards are looking after my hives and the bees aren’t being stressed by beetle presence.
I also have a 5 frame Nuc that I had made from a struggling hive after a swarm.
Yesterday I checked it first. As soon as I lifted the lid I smelt the beetle. Only a small bee colony remained and the frames were oozing muck and beetle larvae were everywhere. There were hundreds of beetles, hundreds of larvae. BUT every other hive with a Beetle Buster baseboard was pristine, happy and productive. I reaped the rewards of the bee’s hard work with 40 kg of honey.
NOTE: the nuc had other beetle avoidance mechanisms in place, 2 other beetle type catchers that sit between the frames. They didn’t help them. BUT NO OTHER HIVE with a Beetle Buster baseboard had beetle. So they are in the area.
